Delhi Police recommends cancellation of case filed by minor wrestler against WFI chief

The police report claimed that no corroborative evidence was found in the allegations levelled by the minor

The Delhi Police, on Thursday, filed a chargesheet in the case pertaining to sexual harassment allegations levelled by female wrestlers against former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in the court of the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate.

Police also submitted a cancellation report in the POCSO case against the former WFI chief, citing lack of corroborative evidence.

In the FIR registered by the wrestlers, after completion of investigation, we are filing a chargesheet for the offences under sections 354, 354A , 354D IPC against accused Brijbhushan Sharan Singh and for offences under sections 109, 354, 354A, 506 IPC against accused Vinod Tomar before the concerned Hon'ble Court, Delhi Police said.

The next hearing in the case is on July 1, reports ndtv.

As for the cancellation report, filed in the minor's case in Delhi Patiala House Court, the next date of hearing is on July 4.

"In the POCSO matter, after completion of investigation, we have submitted a police report under section 173 CrPC requesting for a cancellation of the case based upon statements of the complainant i.e., the father of the victim and the victim herself," a statement by the Delhi Police read.

On April 28, Delhi Police registered two FIRs against Singh at the Connaught Place Police Station.

Singh has denied all the charges and said he will hang himself even if a single allegation is proven against him.
