A Delhi trial court on Saturday summoned former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi and her daughters Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav along with other accused persons after taking cognisance of an Enforcement Directorate chargesheet against them in connection with the alleged land-for-jobs money-laundering case.

Last week, the ED had issued summonses to RJD chief Lalu Prasad and his son and Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav, asking them to depose at the agency’s Patna office in connection with the case. Lalu has been asked to appear for questioning on January 29 and Tejashwi the next day.

The trial court on Saturday said there were sufficient grounds to proceed in the case and directed Rabri and her daughters Misa and Hema, along with the other accused persons, to appear before it on February 9. The court also issued a production warrant against businessman Amit Katyal, who was arrested by the ED in November and is currently in judicial custody.

“Katyal, an alleged 'close associate' of the Yadav family; Hridayanand Chaudhary, a former railway employee and alleged beneficiary; and two private firms — AK Infosystems Pvt Ltd and AB Exports Pvt Ltd, through their common director Shariqul Bari — have also been named in the chargesheet,” a source in the ED said.

The alleged scam pertains to the period when Lalu was railway minister (2004-09) and had allegedly helped over 100 people from Bihar to illegally secure Group D jobs in various railway zones in lieu of money and land. The alleged bribe money was transferred to Lalu’s family and his associates. In July last year, the CBI had filed a chargesheet against Lalu, Rabri, Misa, Tejashwi and 13 others.
