Defence Expo 2022, which was scheduled to be held in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar from March 10 to 14, has been postponed, the defence ministry said on Friday.
The defence ministry’s spokesperson said the exhibition was postponed “due to logistics problems being experienced by participants”, adding that the new dates would be announced in due course.
Sources said the biennial exhibition was pushed back because of Russia’s war on Ukraine. Russia has the largest share in India’s defence imports and Ukraine too is an important contributor.
Last month the defence ministry had said 973 exhibitors, including 121 foreign exhibitors from 63 countries, had registered for Asia’s largest exhibition on land, naval and homeland security systems.
Over 50 delegations, to be led by either defence ministers or service chiefs, were expected to attend. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was to inaugurate the event.
