There is no threat to Odisha because of the deep depression over the Bay of Bengal as the system has started moving towards Bangladesh and is not eyeing the coast of Odisha.

Local meteorologist of India Meteorological Department (IMD), Uma Shankar Das, told reporters: “As the system has started to recurve, there will be not much impact on Odisha.

“A yellow warning has been issued for a few places. Under its impact, a few places in Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur district may experience heavy rainfall. Neighbouring districts are likely to experience rain too.”

However, under its impact, the sky remained cloudy throughout the state in the coastal belt of Odisha including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri.

A yellow warning has been issued for two coastal districts — Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur districts.

Under the impact of the deep depression, several places are likely to receive rainfall ranging from 7cm to 11cm.

The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), Odisha, in a release said: “The deep depression over west Central Bay of Bengal is likely to continue to move north, northeastwards, intensify further into a cyclonic storm during next 24 hours and cross Bangladesh coast between Mongla and Khepupara by the early hours of November 18.”
