Jailed Delhi chief minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal’s wife Sunita on Saturday announced five guarantees to Haryana’s voters on behalf of her husband.
Addressing a rally in Panchkula, Sunita said: “God wanted him to do something big. That is why Arvind Kejriwal, born in Haryana, formed his party and became the chief minister in the very first election. “He improved the government schools in Delhi and Punjab, people are getting free electricity. People are getting free treatment in mohalla clinics.”
The AAP has promised electricity bill waivers and 24x7 electricity, neighbourhood clinics, better schools, monthly income support of ₹1,000 for women and jobs. Sunita had read out similar guarantees of her husband, without consulting allies, at an INDIA rally in Delhi during the parliamentary polls.
The party is going solo in the state, for now, after its joint contest bid with the Congress in Haryana and Gujarat for the Lok Sabha failed to win any seat.
The Haryana Assembly polls are due later this year.
Besides Sunita, Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann and senior AAP leaders Sanjay Singh and Sandeep Pathak were also present during the launch of “Kejriwal ki five guarantees” in Panchkula.
Sunita hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of putting the Delhi chief minister behind bars as he was “jealous” of
his work.
Calling her husband “Haryana ka laal” (son of Haryana), she told people that not even a single seat should go to the BJP and said: “Modi ji has not merely put Kejriwal in jail, he has put the son of Haryana in jail.
“Modi ji says that Arvind Kejriwal is a thief. If Arvind Kejriwal is a thief, then no one can be honest in this world.”
She added: “I am the daughter-in-law of Haryana. I want to ask, will you tolerate this insult? Will you sit quietly? Your Kejriwal is a lion. He will not bend before Modi.”
