The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the country’s largest paramilitary force, has moved a proposal seeking to change the khaki uniform of its over 3 lakh personnel to give the CRPF a separate identity.
CRPF director-general A.P. Maheshwari last week had moved the proposal with all the formations of the force while interacting with them online and sought their suggestions.
“CRPF being the largest paramilitary force is the sentinel of the Union with regard to the internal security. The khaki uniform, which is worn by CRPF personnel, is very common with all the state/UT police, paramilitary forces. Besides, khaki uniform is also worn by postal delivery man as well as delivery of Indian Gas supplier which somehow degrade our quality/action,” said a CRPF circular on his address to the officers.
“To make the CRPF more unique with the uniform and give a separate identity, a new uniform other than khaki should be introduced,” it said.
