Bokaro district has stopped discussing novel coronavirus and its after-effects. It is focusing on positivity, art and academics instead.

On Friday, the district administration inaugurated an online classroom studio on the premises of Suchana Bhavan to shoot better quality academic videos for students of classes IX to XII. The videos will be live-streamed on Facebook and shown on local cable channels.

Deputy commissioner (DC) Mukesh Kumar had initiated the concept of live classes on social media around a month ago to help students make the most of the lockdown. Since then, around 20 private and government school teachers have been taking online classes.

However, the views on Facebook crossed the 20,000-mark when Bokaro superintendent of police (SP) Chandan Jha conducted a live session on quadratic equation early on Saturday morning.

“I love teaching as a hobby. The new initiative by the district administration prompted me to pitch in. Though time is a constraint, I have agreed to be a guest lecturer on weekends. I shall take two hour classes — one hour each for Class X and Class XII, respectively,” Jha said.

Till now, classes have been restricted to physics, chemistry and mathematics, but DC Kumar said new subjects would be included soon.

The Bokaro DC has also started an initiative called “Tales of Happiness: Spread Positivity.” A Facebook page has been created to let people share their moments of happiness during the lockdown.

“Through the page, we will inspire each other with beautiful stories,” DC Kumar said.

Local artists, musicians, litterateur, sportspersons, motivational speakers, career counsellors and eminent people from the field of administration also will go live on the page to create awareness and spread positivity.

“We have stopped discussing the disease because it spreads negativity. We are concentrating more on the brighter side of life,” Kumar said.
