The remaining ICSE and ISC examinations will be conducted after the lockdown is withdrawn, the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations announced on Friday.

The examinations will be completed in six to eight days and will include a Saturday and a Sunday, according to a notice issued by council chief executive and secretary Gerry Arathoon.

The revised schedule will be announced eight days before the examinations. The results will be declared in six to eight weeks of the completion of the examinations.

The dates of the rescheduled exams will depend on the Centre’s directives on the lockdown, the council has said.

The dates of the rescheduled papers will be communicated to the schools through email and the CAREER portal of the CISCE. The timetable of the remaining tests will also be uploaded on the official website of the council www.cisce.org.

The council has asked the heads of all its affiliated schools to immediately alert their students, teachers and parents about the decision on the postponed exams.

The time — eight days between the announcement and the commencement of the exams — may be utilised by the schools to make arrangements and the students for revisions, the council has said. Teachers can also use the time for clearing the doubts of students in the subjects in which the exams are yet to be conducted.

“(The CISCE) shall announce the revised schedule of the examinations (eight) days prior to the commencement of the examinations. This time may be utilised by the schools to make all the necessary arrangements and also enable the students to revise for their remaining papers,” the notice reads.

Exams for six ICSE papers — geography, biology, economics, Group III elective, Hindi and art paper 4 — are pending.

The exams for eight ISC papers — biology paper-I, business studies, geography, sociology, psychology, home science paper I, elective English and art paper 5 — are remaining.

The examinations were postponed on March 19 as a precautionary measure against the spread of the novel coronavirus. Earlier, the ICSE exams were to end on March 30 and the ISC exams on March 31.

The council has in its notice also said the schools may start preparations for Class XI admissions. Students appearing for their ICSE exams may be given provisional admission to Class XI.

The process of evaluation of the ICSE and ISC answer scripts of some subjects is complete.
