The Bihar government has warned that it will not reimburse train fares or provide other financial assistance to migrant workers if they continue to protest over poor quality of food and lack of basic amenities at quarantine camps.

Disaster management department (DMD) principal secretary and state nodal officer for Covid19, Pratyaya Amrit, issued a letter to all district magistrates on Wednesday.

“You all are aware that a large number of labourers who have returned from outside are housed in block quarantine centres…. Information about breach of discipline like road blockade among other things are also coming,” the letter says.

“Nobody can be allowed to breach the discipline or take the law in their hands for the redressal of complaints. Take the help of loudspeakers and public address systems and publicise at all quarantine centres within 24 hours that train fare reimbursement and other financial assistance will be given only to those inmates who complete 14 days of quarantine at block quarantine centres followed by seven days of home quarantine in a disciplined manner,” it adds.
