Cops to recreate Russian’s death

The crime branch has also sought the help of a former director of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory of the CBI, and AIIMS, Delhi, experts to reach a conclusion about the death of Antov

In a media release, the crime branch said on Wednesday: “The crime branch specifically plans to conduct a dummy simulation exercise of falling from the rooftop in similar circumstances. For this a dummy of the same weight and height as the deceased shall be created with the help of experts of the anatomy department of AIIMS and forensic experts. The objective is to study the fall pattern.”

The Odisha police crime branch will recreate the circumstances leading to the death of Russian tourist Pavel Antov, who was found lying in a pool of blood in the backyard of a hotel in Rayagada district last month.

The crime branch has also sought the help of a former director of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory of the CBI, and AIIMS, Delhi, experts to reach a conclusion about the death of Antov.

In a media release, the crime branch said on Wednesday: “The crime branch specifically plans to conduct a dummy simulation exercise of falling from the rooftop in similar circumstances. For this a dummy of the same weight and height as the deceased shall be created with the help of experts of the anatomy department of AIIMS and forensic experts. The release added: “In this regard, the CB has contacted Dr Rajendra Dangi, former director CFSL (Central Forensic Science Laboratory), CBI, and Dr Dogra of AIIMS Delhi who are the leading experts in the dummy fall simulation exercise. They have been involved in resolving several complicated cases of the CBI. They will ascertain the cause, nature and manner of the incident and the injury on the body of Mr Pavel Antov and crosscheck with the PM (post-mortem) report. This is expected to help the inquiring team of the CB to reach a definite conclusion.”

“The examination of the hotel staff of Sai International at Rayagada is continuing. The enquiring officer is examining and receiving the seized exhibits from the district police (and they will be) sent to forensic experts for examination,” the crime branch added.
