Congress will announce Siddaramaiah as the Chief Minister and DK Shivakumar his deputy at the Congress Legislative Party meeting in Bangalore this evening, sources have said, according to NDTV.
DK Shivakumar, has accepted the party's proposal to be the Deputy Chief Minister following Sonia Gandhi's intervention.
Sources say, two options were given Shivakumar by Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi. The options gave him the post of the state's single Deputy Chief Minister post alongside heading the state party unit. He was also offered six ministries of his choice. But he turned down both.
Another alternative was to share power between the two contenders. Under this, Siddaramaiah was to get the top post for two years, followed by Shivakumar for three years. Neither of the two was ready to go second, hence this option also went into vain.
