Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Saturday said the Narendra Modi government’s plan to celebrate hundred days in office in its second term would be like celebrating the ruin of certain industrial sectors.
Priyanka tweeted: “The BJP government is planning to celebrate completion of hundred days. But this will appear as celebration of ruin in the auto, transport and mining sectors. Reports of job losses and lockdowns are coming from every sector. The occasion demands restoration of faith in economy instead of planning celebrations.
Does the government have the courage to accept this truth?”
The Congress too pointed to the crisis in industries and job losses saying: “You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time. A lesson the BJP must learn — the truth will get you much further.”
It added: “The government must stop spinning tales of people choosing cabs instead of purchasing cars to explain automobile sector collapse. Fact is the slowdown is due to demonetisation & poorly implemented GST — they must accept it & remedy it.”
