Hectic parleys and discussion continue for seat sharing agreement between two constituents of INDIA bloc — RJD and CPI-ML — with chief minister Hemant Soren-leading the JMM-Congress-RJD government in poll-bound Jharkhand.

Inside sources said that the RJD and the CPI-ML will be given six and four seats respectively based on the talks till Tuesday evening.

However, the CPI on Tuesday announced its decision to go solo in the Jharkhand Assembly poll and claimed to announce a list of candidates for 15 seats (out of 81 members in the Jharkhand Assembly) in the poll.

CPI Jharkhand general secretary Mahendra Pathak even went to the extent of criticising the Hemant Soren-led government for “disappointing youth for five years”. The CPI does not have a single MLA in the existing Jharkhand Assembly.

On Monday late night, the Congress announced its first list of 21 candidates for the state Assembly polls with Jharkhand’s Congress in-charge Ghulam Ahmed Mir claiming that the list accounts for around 70 per cent of the seats the party is likely to contest in the JMM-led alliance.

Fifteen legislators, including four ministers, have been given tickets in the first list.

The names of the candidates for Pakur and Barhi seats have been kept on hold. Uma Shankar Akela and Alamgir Alam represent the two seats. Alam was a minister in Hemant’s cabinet. Irfan Ansari replaced him after the ED arrested Alam over alleged money laundering charges. His son, Tanveer Alam, was expected to replace him as the Congress candidate.

Ansari and three other ministers Rameshwar Oraon, Banna Gupta, Deepika Pandey Singh will contest the poll.

Retired IPS and former Jamshedpur MP, Ajoy Kumar, a Congress national spokesperson, has been fielded from the Jamshedpur East seat against Purnima Das, daughter-in-law of Odisha governor and former chief minister Raghubar Das.
