The Congress' minority department staged a protest against BJP leader Subramanian Swamy in New Delhi on Tuesday against his allegation that party leader Rahul Gandhi took cocaine.

Akhlaq Khan, a general secretary of the minority department, said: “All of us had surrounded Swamy’s residence (today) to convey to him that if he doesn’t apologise for his baseless remarks against our honourable leader Rahul Gandhi, we will carry a similar protest again in more numbers. If he repeats the same in the future, we will hold him accountable for it again.”

The district Congress president in Chhattisgarh’s Jashpur, Pawan Agrawal, filed an FIR against Swamy on Saturday.

In reaction to the police case registered against him under various IPC sections, Swamy had posted a tweet saying: “This FIR is stupid because the police did not do a dope test to verify the truth.”
