Congress, NCP, Shiv Sena leaders hail Supreme Court's decision on Twitter

The leaders of Maha Vikas Aghadi, an alliance of the Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP, on Tuesday hailed the Supreme Court's decision of ordering Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis to hold a floor test tomorrow within 5 pm and have the session video recorded.

From calling it a 'slap on an illegitimate BJP-Ajit Pawar Govt' to 'a victory for Constitution of India', the leaders of the alliance took to Twitter to welcome the apex court's order.

Congress chief Randeep Surjewala called the Fadnavis-led government a 'fraud''and said, 'Supreme Court’s decision is a slap on an illegitimate BJP-Ajit Pawar Govt, who had hijacked the ‘mandate’.' The official Twitter handle of the Congress called it a 'victory for' the Constitution of India.

The Maharashtra Congress went with #WeAre162 to show solidarity to their alliance and welcomed the top court's decision. Former Congress state chief minister Prithviraj Chavan demanded Devendra Fadnavis' resignation.

NCP chief Sharad Pawar said, 'I am grateful to Hon’ble SC for upholding democratic values and constitutional principles. It’s heartening that the Maharashtra Verdict came on the #ConstitutionDay, a Tribute to Bharatratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar!'

NCP leader Supriya Sule called the apex court's decision a 'gift' on this Constitution day to 'the people of Maharashtra.' The day coincides with Constitution Day, celebrated on 26 November every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India.

Shiv Sena leaders to Sanjay Raut and Priyanka Chaturvedi were of the view that the truth has prevailed.

Earlier in the day at the Supreme Court hearing, the bench of Justices N. V. Ramana, Ashok Bhushan, Sanjiv Khanna said the pro tem Speaker would be chairing the floor test.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi claims it has the support of 162 MLAs with the Shiv Sena accounting for 56, the NCP 51, the Congress 44 and others 9.
