A cold wave condition is prevailing in western Jharkhand with Mercury dropping below 5° Celsius at many places.
Informing this, Ranchi Meteorological Centre (RMC) added that the cold wave condition would prevail till January 16. It also advised people to be alert and take precautions.
The districts experiencing such cold wave conditions are Chatra, Palamau, Latehar, Garhwa, Lohardaga, Gumla and Simdega.
"People will, however, get some respite from it when many parts of the state will have cloudy sky on January 17 and 18 and there is also a forecast of isolated rainfall in certain areas of eastern, northeastern and southern parts of the state on those two days," Abhishek Anand, a meteorological scientist in charge of RMC, informed when contacted.
"Dense fog will also be seen in the morning in the entire northern part of the state on those two days," he further informed, adding that the entire Santal Pargana and North Chotanagpur regions, besides Palamau and Garhwa districts, would remain foggy on those two days.
According to RMC data, Gumla recorded the minimum temperature as 2.1° Celsius on Saturday night, the lowest in the state, followed by Chatra 3.7°, Palamau 3.8°, Khunti 4.1° and Garwah 4.8° Celsius.
