The Transport Department is actively availing subsidies to beneficiaries under the Electric Vehicle Policy 2022 in the state. The department will provide a sum of Rs 14.29 crore to 7,656 electric vehicle owners as subsidies, ensuring the smooth implementation of the policy and supporting the adoption of electric vehicles in the state.

Transport Minister, Mohammad Akbar, has expressed the government's commitment to promoting electric vehicles in Chhattisgarh, in consonance with Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel's vision. To encourage people to adopt electric vehicles, the state government is offering subsidies to individuals who purchase electric vehicles.

To avail of the benefit of subsidy, the vehicle seller or dealer must provide their account number and IFSC code. The Transport Department will transfer an amount equivalent to 10 per cent of the vehicle's value, up to a maximum of Rs 1.5 lakh, directly to the buyer's account.

Transport Commissioner, Dipanshu Kabra, has informed that the distribution of subsidies amounting to over Rs 14.29 crore to 7,656 electric vehicle owners is underway across various districts of the state. Additionally, in the month of December of last year, 404 beneficiaries have received subsidies amounting to more than Rs 80 lakh in the first phase of the program.

The department has distributed Rs 1.56 crore as subsidies to 888 beneficiaries in the second phase, Rs 2.21 crore to 1,652 beneficiaries in the third phase, Rs 98 lakh to 613 beneficiaries in the fourth phase, Rs 2.50 crore to 1,302 beneficiaries in the fifth phase, and Rs 94 lakh to 636 beneficiaries in the sixth phase. Currently, the seventh phase is underway, with a subsidy amount of Rs 5.30 crore being distributed to 2,161 beneficiaries.

The subsidies provided by the Transport Department in Chhattisgarh for electric vehicles have greatly facilitated the buyer to purchase an electric vehicle. Consequently, people's interest in buying an electric vehicle has significantly increased. This growing trend has led to a surge in demand for electric vehicles, resulting in increased sales in the market.
