Chhattisgarh: Rajnandgaon ranks first among other districts in terms of MGNREGA employment

Women have been the most active participants in MGNREGA projects, accounting for 60% of all participants

In the direction to provide employment to labourers in the district, effective measures are being taken under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. Continuous effort is being made in the district to provide employment to workers under the supervision of Collector Doman Singh and District Panchayat CEO Amit Kumar.

As a result, Rajnandgaon district tops the list for providing employment to labourers. Over 59000 workers have been employed in 1,934 proposed works by the District Panchayat. Workers are working under MGNREGA in various works that include pond deepening, dabri construction, well construction, stream embankment, and shed construction.

It is worth mentioning that employment was provided to 16 thousand 408 workers for 583 works of the Chhuria development block, 7 thousand 597 workers for 272 works of the Dongargaon development block, 16 thousand 279 workers for 580 works of the Dongargarh development block, and 18 thousand 725 workers for 499 works of the Rajnandgaon development block, which includes approval of more than 4500 works.

The participation of maximum labourers in the district can be seen as they are being paid at the new wage rate of Rs. 221. Women have been the most active participants in MGNREGA projects, accounting for 60% of all participants.

Work is being done with a strong emphasis on water conservation and promotion, which includes the construction of 2500 percolation tanks to increase groundwater levels. Simultaneously, training is being provided to promote Mahila Mate engagement.
