In a remarkable stride towards integrating India's most vulnerable tribal communities into the mainstream, the PM Janman Camp in Chhattisgarh's Bamhni village, under the Gram Panchayat Maroda, celebrated a day of transformative change for the PVTG Kamar families.

Seven members of this marginalised group received their new ration cards, symbolising more than just access to essential supplies—this marked their formal entry into the nation’s welfare framework.

The Kamar tribe, listed under the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG), has historically been left on the periphery of development. But on this day, Chamru Kamar, Kamala Bai Kamar, and five others from their community left the camp with not only the promise of rice, salt, and sugar at subsidised rates but also with a renewed sense of belonging and hope. Their new ration cards, provided instantly during the camp, ensure that every month they will have access to these staples from the local government fair price shop.

The joy was palpable as the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude, their faces lit with smiles. They extended heartfelt thanks to Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai’s government for its dedication to uplifting their community.

This wasn’t just a day of food security. The Health Department's proactive role was evident as they conducted health check-ups for 45 Kamar families, addressing concerns like blood pressure and sugar levels and dispensing necessary medicines free of charge.

Moreover, the camp's holistic approach was underscored when Janabai Kamar received her Ayushman card, ensuring health coverage under the government's flagship scheme, while Kamlesh Kamar walked away with a supply of Ragi millet courtesy of the Agriculture Department.

The delivery of Aadhaar cards and Kisan Credit Cards to other members, including Bhuvaneshwar and Mahendra Kamar, further exemplified the event’s comprehensive nature.

The presence of key officials like Amjad Jafri, CEO of District Panchayat Gariaband, and Rakesh Sahu, Development Extension Officer, along with other officials and community leaders, ensured the event was not just a distribution exercise but a genuine engagement with the needs and aspirations of the Kamar tribe.

The PM Janman Camp in Bamhni is not just an isolated success story but a glimpse into a broader, ongoing effort to bring the benefits of development to the country’s most marginalised. As these seven Kamar families step into a future where their basic needs are met, the state’s commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind takes on a very real and impactful meaning.
