The women's self-help group of village Jhalam in the Bemetara district is actively engaged in manufacturing vermicompost in Gauthan. Geeta, a member of the group, stated that the name of her group is Jai Maa Saraswati Women Self-Help Group, and there are a total of ten members in the group.

Godhan NYAY Yojana provided us with employment and freed us from debt

Earlier, Geeta used to do labour and farming work for a living, due to which her financial condition weakened. There was no other source of income, and her family went into debt. Then she formed a group with other women of the village and joined the ambitious Godhan NYAY Yojana.

Under the Atma Yojana of the Agriculture Department, her group was provided earthworms and training for the production of vermicompost. Now, they are successfully manufacturing compost and vermicompost after receiving timely guidance and resources from officers of the agriculture department.

The women of the group are earning additional income by producing earthworms along with vermicompost. Till now, they have produced 580.70 quintals of earthworm manure and sold fertilizer worth Rs 2,27,634.
