A workshop focusing on cyber awareness and water conservation was held at the Municipal Corporation Auditorium, Raigarh, on Thursday, where judicial, legislative, and executive representatives came together to address these pressing social issues. Organised by the District Legal Services Authority and the District and Police Administration, the event aimed to raise public awareness through detailed presentations on cyber security and water conservation.
Supreme Court Justice Prashant Mishra served as the chief guest, while Finance Minister O.P. Choudhary attended as the special guest. The workshop saw the participation of District and Sessions Judge Raigarh Jitendra Kumar Jain, Collector Kartikeya Goyal, Superintendent of Police Divyang Patel, judges from the district court, officials from the district and police administration, members of the bar association, and representatives from civil societies.
Justice Prashant Mishra stressed the growing significance of both cyber security and water conservation in today’s society. “Awareness of cybercrimes is vital for prevention,” he said, urging attendees to stay informed about the rapid advancements in technology. He recounted incidents where cybercriminals impersonated judicial officials to commit fraud, emphasizing the need for vigilance. On water conservation, Justice Mishra highlighted that citizen participation is crucial for creating a sustainable environment.
“It’s the need of the hour to implement water conservation and cyber security measures,” he added, praising the local authorities for their efforts and encouraging greater public involvement.
Finance Minister O.P. Choudhary echoed these concerns, drawing attention to the alarming rise in cybercrimes. “Cyber fraud often results in greater financial losses compared to traditional crimes,” he stated, urging the public to educate themselves and their families on preventive measures.
Choudhary also lauded the district’s water conservation initiatives, particularly efforts to preserve groundwater and protect the environment. “Our culture values nature, and we must work together for water conservation,” he said, referencing the government's "Peeple for People" campaign in Naya Raipur and similar efforts in Raigarh. Choudhary further mentioned the government’s active involvement in managing fly ash and electrostatic precipitators (ESPs) as part of environmental conservation.
The workshop highlighted the collective responsibility of citizens, the government, and local authorities in tackling these two critical issues, encouraging greater participation from all sectors of society.
