The Chakradhar Samaroh has always been more than just a cultural festival; it is a tribute to the rich legacy of Maharaja Chakradhar Singh, the erstwhile ruler of Raigarh, who was a connoisseur of music and dance. His patronage of the arts laid the foundation for this festival, which has evolved into a prestigious event that attracts performers and audiences from around the world.

This year’s edition is particularly special, as it features performances by seven Padma Shri awardees, each a luminary in their respective fields. Their presence underscores the festival's stature as a beacon of Indian culture and a platform for showcasing the country’s rich artistic heritage.

Hema Malini

The festival will be graced by the legendary Hema Malini, whose Bharatanatyam performances have captivated audiences worldwide. Known primarily as an iconic figure in Indian cinema, Hema Malini’s contributions to the classical dance form of Bharatanatyam are equally significant. Her performances are a blend of technical finesse and emotive expression, embodying the essence of the ancient art form.

Pandit Ramlal Bareth

Another highlight is Pandit Ramlal Bareth, a doyen of the Raigarh Gharana of Kathak. His tireless efforts in establishing and popularising this unique style of Kathak have earned him national and international acclaim. This year, he adds the Padma Shri to his list of accolades, further cementing his legacy.

Kumari Devyani

Kumari Devyani, a distinguished Bharatanatyam dancer, will also take the stage. Her performances have enthralled audiences across continents, and her dedication to promoting Indian culture has made her a revered figure in the dance community. Her participation in the Chakradhar Samaroh adds a global dimension to the festival, highlighting its international appeal.

Bharti Bandhu

The musical traditions of India will be represented by Bharti Bandhu, an acclaimed singer known for his soulful renditions of Kabir bhajans. His performances are not just musical expressions but spiritual experiences that resonate with audiences. His Padma Shri award in 2013 is a testament to his contribution to Indian music.

Anuj Sharma

Chhattisgarhi cinema and arts will be celebrated through the presence of Anuj Sharma, a versatile artist known for his work in direction, acting, and singing. His multifaceted contributions to the regional arts scene have earned him the Padma Shri, making him a cultural ambassador of Chhattisgarh.

Surendra Dubey

Humour and poetry find their place in the festival with Surendra Dubey, whose wit and wisdom have made him a beloved figure across India. His humorous poetry, delivered with impeccable timing, brings joy and laughter to audiences, while also promoting the rich cultural heritage of his home state.

Ranjana Gauhar

Ranjana Gauhar, an esteemed Odissi dancer, choreographer, and author, will showcase the elegance and grace of this classical dance form. Her book, "Odissi The Dance Divine," and her award-winning performances have made her a custodian of Odissi’s rich tradition. Her participation in the Chakradhar Samaroh is a celebration of her lifelong dedication to the arts.

With such an illustrious lineup of Padma Shri awardees, this year’s event promises to be an unforgettable experience for all who attend.
