Those who passed the CBSE’s Class X and Class XII board exams anytime since 1975 will soon be able to obtain copies of their mark sheets or admit cards at the click of a mouse.
Currently, the academic records of only those who cleared the Central Board of Secondary Education’s Class X and Class XII exams from 2001 onwards are available on the board’s online depository, Parinaam Manjusha.
The availability of academic records online allows those who have misplaced their documents to download copies. It also helps higher education institutions and employers to verify a seat or job applicant’s school documents, if they have any doubts.
Currently, most employers and universities who want to get an applicant’s documents verified have to send physical copies to the CBSE. The CBSE has now decided to allow employers and universities to register with the board and verify applicants’ documents online.
“The decision has been taken by the board that the verification of educational documents issued by the board will be done online now and the organisations will not require to send educational documents in the physical form for verification,” says a summary report for January about the activities by the various organisations under the education ministry.
A ministry official said the CBSE receives several hundred requests every year from employers and higher education institutions for the verification of documents.
“The board is working on a project to make available the legacy data from 1975 onwards. This will help the public to get their documents too,” the official said.
The CBSE has also begun providing migration certificates online. The students can obtain such certificates by depositing a fee online.
