All Class X exams will be held from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm with the first exam for being languages - Kannada, Odia and Lepcha. Class XII exams will begin with English (both Elective and Core) at 10.30 am, ndtv.com further reported.

A third of each paper (33 per cent) will contain internal choice questions, and the syllabus of each subject has been reduced by 30 per cent to ease the burden on lakhs of students across the country who have seen classroom time cut drastically due to the coronavirus lockdown.

Usually, practical exams are conducted in January and written exams begin in February and conclude in March. However, the exams were delayed this session in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Schools across the country were closed in March last year to contain the spread of COVID-19. They were partially reopened in some states from October 15.

The board exams last year had to be postponed mid-way in March. They were later cancelled and the results announced on the basis of an alternative assessment scheme.
