The CBI will interrogate arrested NewsClick HR head Amit Chakraborty in Tihar jail in connection with its probe against the news portal for alleged violations of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA).
“Chakraborty will be interrogated as a witness on Wednesday for two hours in the afternoon about alleged investments from US-based Worldwide Media Holdings (WMH) in the company PPK NewsClick Studio Pvt,” a CBI official said on Monday. He added that the central agency had got permission from the special court to question him in Tihar on Wednesday.
In October last year, Delhi police raided the news portal's office and several associated journalists before arresting NewsClick founder-editor Prabir Purkayastha and Chakraborty in a terror case.
Later, the CBI registered a case against Purkayastha, PPK NewsClick Studio Pvt and others for alleged FCRA violations based on a Union home ministry complaint.
