The CBI on Friday informed a Delhi trial court that it has got requisite sanctions from authorities concerned to prosecute former railway minister Lalu Prasad in a corruption case pertaining to the alleged land-for-jobs scam.
The CBI filed the sanctions before special judge Vishal Gogne.
Sources said the agency received sanction for prosecution against Lalu from the President through the Union home ministry and submitted it before the court.
The agency told the court that there were around 30 other accused in the case for whom prosecution sanction was awaited and urged it to grant 15 more days to enable it to obtain the requisite documents.
The court directed the CBI to expedite the process to obtain the sanctions for the other accused and posted the matter for further hearing on
October 15.
In July the court had asked the agency to get sanction for prosecution against 32 public servants, including Lalu.
The alleged scam pertains to the period when Lalu was railway minister (2004-2009) and had allegedly helped over 100 people from Bihar illegally secure Group D jobs in various railway zones in lieu of money and land.
The alleged bribery money was transferred to Lalu’s family and his associates.
The agency had last year filed a chargesheet before a Delhi trial court in connection with the land-for-jobs scandal allegedly involving former railway minister Lalu Prasad and his family members.
