A Delhi court on Wednesday granted bail to RJD leader Lalu Prasad, his wife and former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi and their daughter Misa Bharti in connection with a case related to the alleged land-for-job scam.

Lalu, who had undergone a kidney transplant in Singapore in December, arrived at the Rouse Avenue court around 10am in a wheelchair.

Granting relief to the accused on a personal bond of Rs 50,000 and one surety of the like amount each, the court posted the matter for the next hearing on March 29.

The Central Bureau of Investigation did not oppose the bail pleas.

The case relates to alleged appointments made in the railways in return for land parcels gifted or sold to Lalu’s family when he was railway minister between 2004 and 2009.

Lalu, former Bihar chief minister and a convict in three fodder scam cases, is the main accused in the land-for-jobs case. Besides Rabri and their eldest daughter and Rajya Sabha member Misa, the other accused include daughter Hema Yadav and son and Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Prasad.

In its chargesheet last October, the CBI had alleged that Lalu as the railway minister had helped at least 111 people from Bihar to illegally secure Group D jobs in various railway zones in lieu of money and land. These posts were not advertised publicly for recruitment.

Around 150 people from Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Haryana too were given railway jobs against bribes, the CBI alleged.
