A 46-year-old woman from Bulgaria was found unconscious at the Bihar School of Yoga (BSY) in Munger on Sunday.

She was rushed to a private hospital where she was declared brought dead. Daniela Bogomitova Molchoveska, daughter of Bogomil Molchoveski, was a resident of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. She had come to the BSY around a month ago to learn yoga.

“We got information about the death of a Bulgarian woman in the morning. A case of unnatural death has been registered and an investigation is being conducted,” Munger superintendent of police (SP) Jagunatharaddi Jalaraddi told The Telegraph.

The SP added that Daniela was staying alone at the BSY and the police had no knowledge about any medical condition or disease that she was suffering from.

When this newspaper rang up the yoga institution, a woman — who identified herself as a sevak (servitor) — said a competent authority would call back. However, nobody got back till the time of filing this report.

Munger Kotwali station house officer Dhirendra Pandey said that Daniela was found unconscious at 7am and the law enforcers were informed around 9am.

“We informed our senior officers about the incident. The post-mortem of the body has been conducted under the supervision of a sub-divisional magistrate and it was videoed,” Pandey said.

The police have requested Munger DM Navin Kumar to make arrangements to preserve the body.

Daniela was declared brought dead at Sevayan Hospital with which the yoga institution has a tie-up.

Sevayan Hospital’s manager Muhammad Imran told The Telegraph that the hospital had received a request for an ambulance from the BSY.

“An ambulance was dispatched. In the meantime, the BSY people brought in the woman in another ambulance. One of our doctors examined her and declared her dead on arrival. She did not receive any treatment at the hospital,” Imran added.

Sources in the government said Daniela’s family members had been informed about her demise, but they had expressed their inability to come to India for her last rites. “We will seek directions from senior officials and her family members. Her last rites will be performed in Munger if needed, either by the BSY or the government,” a source said.
