Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday called for a boycott of Chinese goods and laid down the ideology of the party that has just qualified for national status.

The Delhi chief minister said at the AAP’s national council meeting: “The citizens of India will volunteer to pay a little more for these goods if they get to know that they are being produced in India and benefitting our countrymen. They will be willing to pay double the amount if the government boycotts Chinese goods and manufactures these within India. Today, I would like to urge our citizens to boycott Chinese goods and buy only locally made goods.”

He added: “I would also like to urge the BJP-led government to show some courage and stand with their soldiers…. This is the 21st century, and no country can just take over the territory of another country in this day and age. In the modern world, it is all about trade and economics. The day we show some courage and stop this $95 billion imports from China, it will come to the terms that India has laid down for it.”

Kejriwal said: “..The AAP stands firm on three basic principles in Indian politics. The first is that we believe in kattar deshbhakti (staunch patriotism), we are absolute patriots.... Secondly, we are all kattar imandaar — citizens who are absolutely honest. Our party was formed from the fight against corruption.... We have come here to clean up the politics of the country.”

He added: “Our-third principle is of insaniyat (humanism). Our work should be such that it takes every community forward. We do not believe in creating rifts between communities, like the other parties do.”
