Body of one of two Odia doctors missing in landslides in Wayanad found, search on for another

The body that has been found is suspected to be of Dr Bishnu Prasad Chinara, following legal procedure, arrangements to be made to bring him to Odisha

The body of one of the two Odia doctors missing in the landslides in Wayanad has been found. Efforts are being made to trace the other doctor.

Odisha minister for revenue and disaster Suresh Pujari said: “We are in constant touch with the Kerala government. The body that has been found is suspected to be of Dr Bishnu Prasad Chinara. Following the legal procedure, arrangements will be made to bring the body to Odisha.”

Bishnu Prasad Chinara and his wife Priyadarshini and another doctor, Swadhin Panda and his wife Swikruti, went to Bengaluru together on July 26. From there, they went to Wayanad on July 29. During the landslides, all of them were swept away. However, both Priyadarshini and Swikruti were rescued. The whereabouts of Dr Swadhin Panda is to be ascertained.

Pujari said: “There is no information about Dr Swadhin Panda so far. The
special relief commissioner (SRC) is in touch with the Kerala counterpart.”

The minister has said the women are under treatment.
