Amid BJP leaders playing ‘Muslim infiltrators’ card ahead of assembly polls in Jharkhand, chief minister Hemant Soren on Monday evening issued a warning on Monday of BJP decimation in the elections if they continue in playing communally divisive politics.

Addressing a public function at Barhait (his home constituency) Hemant Soren heading a JMM-Congress-RJD coalition government in the state said that the Opposition (read BJP) only job is to rant ‘Hindu-Muslim’.

“The Opposition has been obstructing state government welfare schemes ever since government formation (in December 2019). As part of their conspiracy, I had to be in jail. Unka ek hi kaam hai bas Hindu-Muslim, Hindu-Muslim karna (their only work is to politics in the name of hindu-muslim). While doing this they lost a few teeth in the recent Lok Sabha election. If they continue doing it in the assembly elections, then they will not even find people to carry their party flags in near future,” warned Soren who was released on bail last month after being in judicial custody in Ranchi over alleged money laundering charges by the Enforcement Directorate pertaining to a land scam.

Incidentally, during the recent Lok Sabha polls, the BJP failed to win a single ST-reserved parliamentary constituency in Jharkhand losing in all the five ST seats. It could win only nine seats out of a total of 14 Lok Sabha seats as against 12 out of 14 in 2019 poll.

Union home minister Amit Shah during a BJP workers’ meeting at Ranchi on Saturday had accused the Hemant Soren government of aiding “love jihad” and “land jihad” (a term used by BJP leaders against Muslims marrying hindu/tribal girls and taking away tribal lands) and vowed to bring a white paper on demographic changes brought by Bangladeshi infiltrators to protect interest of tribals in the state.

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Union agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan (BJP poll in-charge for Jharkhand Assembly elections) had been in recent meetings accusing the state government of protecting the interest of ghuspetiye.
