The BJP held protests both inside and outside the Jharkhand Assembly over the killing of a tribal girl on the first day of the five-daylong winter session in Ranchi on Monday.
The BJP lawmakers held placards showing their protest against the chopping of the body of a tribal girl, Rubika Pahadin, by Dildar Ansari in the Borio police station area of Sahebganj district and demanded a death sentence for the accused.
They accused the Hemant Soren-led JMM-Congress-RJD alliance of appeasing minorities for electoral gains.
They continued their protest even inside the Assembly despite the repeated pleas of the speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato to take their seats.
While reading out the condolence motion, the chief whip of the opposition Biranchi Narayan condemned the incident and blamed a particular community for doing such crimes.
There were debates between treasury benches and the Opposition. During the debate between the two sides in the session, Sarath BJP MLA Randhir Singh stood on the table and had to be taken out by the marshals.
Soon after the reading of the condolence motion, the proceedings of the House were adjourned till Tuesday.
Soren accused the Opposition of doing politics over the body and that too during the reading of the condolence motion.
“It is not a good precedent to disturb the House during the reading of the condolence motion. Deceased people are remembered during condolence motions... Doing politics during such occasions is similar to insulting such deceased persons.”
