BJP leader Vijender Gupta filed a defamation case on Tuesday against Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia for 'maligning' his image by accusing him of being part of an alleged 'conspiracy' to kill Kejriwal.

Gupta sent legal notices to the two a week ago, asking them to apologise.

'I have filed a defamation case in the Patiala House Courts against them as they did not reply to my legal notice,' Gupta, who is the leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, said.

In his police complaint against the chief minister and his deputy, Gupta alleged that they were tying to 'falsely implicate' him in an alleged conspiracy to kill Kejriwal.

During the Lok Sabha polls, the Delhi chief minister said in an interview to a Punjabi channel that the BJP wanted to get him killed by his own personal security officer in the manner in which Indira Gandhi had been assassinated.
