The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD), which has been going from strength to strength since its birth in 1997 in Odisha, on Tuesday observed its 27th foundation day, exuding confidence that it would be back to power for the sixth time in a row.
Supremely confident about the BJD’s continued sway over the state, the party has made it clear that it would be back to power banking on chief minister Naveen Patnaik's clean image, developmental work that has been initiated over the years to make a “Nabin Odisha (A new Odisha)" and a host of welfare measures to bring a transformation in various sectors whether it be the renovation of the temples or modernisations of the schools and colleges, considered as the temple of education or in the health sector or empowerment of women.
Naveen paid floral tributes at the statue of Biju Patnaik, on whose name the party was founded.
Since the election is barely a few months away, the party this time, focussed on organising functions at the constituency level rather than concentrating on Bhubaneswar.
