Bihar will showcase Takht Sri Harimandir Sahib and the ruins of the ancient Nalanda University, a Unesco world heritage site, to the G20 delegates who will arrive in Patna on June 21 for the meetings of the Labour Engagement Group.

They will also be taken to the Bihar Museum and the Nalanda Museum during their four-day stay in the state.

“The delegates from different parts of the world will be introduced to the rich historical heritage, art and culture of Bihar. We will take them to some of the most famous places in the state. We want them to go back with fond memories,” state tourism department secretary Abhay Kumar Singh said.

Singh held a review meeting of the concerned officers on Monday and asked themto ensure that the visit of the visitors to various places in Patna and Nalanda goes smoothly.

The G20 delegates will do a round of the Bihar Museum on the evening of June 21 after arriving in the state capital. Though they will be busy with confabulations over the next two days, they willvisit Takht Sri Harimandir Sahib, popularly known asthe Patna Sahib, on June 23 morning.

Harimandir Sahib is the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh, the 10th and the last Guru of the Sikhs. It is considered the second most sacred pilgrimage site for Sikhs across the globe after the Golden Temple.

Singh said that the G20 representatives would visit Nalanda on June 24. After visiting the Unesco world heritage site, they would also go to the Nalanda Museum that houses artefacts discovered in excavations at the university ruins and other parts of the district.

Multilingual guides will accompany the delegates during their tour of various places in the state.

The Gupta dynasty ruler Kumargupta I established the ancient Nalanda University in the 5th century AD. It attracted students from different parts of the world for various subjects, including philosophy, religions, chemistry, astronomy, astrology, medicine, archery among others.
