The minor girl is a resident of a locality under the Saharsa Sadar police station. She had gone out to graze goats and was returning home around 5pm on Saturday (September 14) when the SUV stopped close to her. One person sitting inside asked her to get in.

“I refused at which he took out a pistol and threatened to kill me. I became speechless out of fear. He pulled me inside. There were three people in the vehicle. One person was driving while the others — Bittu and Ankush — did bad things to me,” the victim told reporters after registering an FIR at the police station.

The accused sexually assaulted the hapless girl for around two hours in the moving vehicle and played very loud music to muffle her screams. They later threw her on the road and escaped after threatening her with dire consequences if she told anybody about the incident.

The victim managed to return home somehow with her clothes torn and bite injuries on her body. She did not tell anything to her parents but narrated the ordeal to her aunt on Monday (September 16).

“She told me everything. They thrashed her into submission and also bit several times on her body. We then decided to register an FIR,” the victim’s aunt said.

The police registered an FIR under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) section 70(1) (gang-rape) and various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on Monday, sent the victim for medical examination and swung into action.

Saharsa superintendent of police (SP) Himanshu constituted a special investigation team (SIT), which arrested one person on Tuesday.
