The inmates of a juvenile home in Bihar’s Chhapra allegedly stabbed to death a home guard jawan when he was inspecting the facility on Saturday.
Chandra Bhushan Singh, 45, was stabbed multiple times after he was suspected to have had an argument with the juveniles. The observation home had three home guard jawans, but two had gone out for some work.
Singh slumped to the floor and kept calling for help. His colleagues arrived there after some time and took him to Chhapra Sadar Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.
Police rushed to the observation home and started an investigation. They are scanning the CCTV installed at the facility.
“Preliminary investigations suggest that some juveniles killed the jawan in an attempt to flee from the observation home. The murder weapon has been recovered. We are conducting a further probe into the incident. We are also looking into how the weapon reached inside the facility,” Saran superintendent of police Gourav Mangla told reporters.
Saran range deputy inspector general (DIG) Vikas Kumar also rushed to the observation home to take stock of the incident.
Kumar said matters would become clear only after the investigations were complete.
The family members of Singh have accused the other colleagues of conspiring to get him killed.
The state home guards association has demanded a speedy probe, compensation and a job for the slain jawan’s family. It has also threatened to go on a strike against the poor working conditions.
