Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar expressed ignorance on Wednesday about the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summons to his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal and did not speak on the issue.

The ED has summoned Kejriwal on Thursday (November 2) for questioning on the alleged excise scam in Delhi, and media persons sought Nitish’s reactions on it on the sidelines of the 11th foundation day function of the Bihar State Power Holding Corporation Limited and its subsidiary companies in Patna.

Nitish, who cobbled together the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) in June this year, looked left and right, facially expressed that he did not know about the summons, and folded his hands to show that he would not react to the questions. Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is also a member of the Opposition bloc.

The Congress, which is the largest party in INDIA, has also spoken about the ED summons to Kejriwal in a guarded manner, and none of its top leaders have reacted to it in public.

Earlier at the function, the Bihar chief minister inaugurated, launched the work, and laid the foundation stones for projects worth around Rs 14,000 crore pertaining to the energy department.

Speaking on the occasion, Nitish asserted that the state government was doing a lot for Bihar’s development, and pointed out that he would be distributing appointment letters to 1.20 lakh teaching candidates on Thursday.

Hitting out at the BJP-led government at the Centre, Nitish said: “If the central government distributes 50,000 appointment letters, it hogs the headlines in newspapers, but the work done by us for the development of the state is seldom discussed.

“I do not take credit for anything personally because it is the state government that does the work. We will keep working for everybody’s welfare and the progress of Bihar.”

Remembering the days when he came to power in 2005, Nitish said that Bihar used to get just 700MW of electricity and the state capital received power supply for just eight hours a day.
