The sadhus of Ayodhya and members of a trust the Centre has formed to build a Ram temple in Ayodhya have invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to lay the shrine’s foundation stone on July 2 morning.

A confirmation from Modi’s office is awaited, Anil Mishra, a member of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, told reporters in Ayodhya.

Last November, the Supreme Court had ordered the disputed 2.77 acre plot handed over to a trust, to be created by the Centre, to build the Ram temple and an alternative 5 acre plot to be given to Muslims somewhere in Ayodhya to build a mosque.

Acharya Satyendra Das, head priest of the temporary Ram temple where the idols are installed, announced the invite to Modi. He said an auspicious window to launch projects would begin sometime on July 1 and end on July 2 evening.
