The State Health Society Bihar (SHSB) was conducting the online computer-based test to recruit 4,500 CHOs, scheduled on two days — Sunday and Monday. Sources said that a few audio, and video clips and chats related to the exam had gone viral on social media platforms before the two papers that were held on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the EOU also received intelligence inputs and information before the examination started on Sunday. It constituted a special team and checked three of the 12 test centres in the state capital with the help of the Patna police.

“Our officials detected that ‘paper solver gangs’ had gained unauthorised and illegal access to the computer systems located at the examination centres with the help of proxy servers and remote viewing software. They also got the evidence that the gangs were indulging in solving the examination paper in real-time,” EOU deputy inspector general (DIG) Manavjit Singh Dhillon said.

“The involvement of the owners, centre heads, IT managers and exam coordinators of We Shine Tech Private Limited and related examination centres, where the recruitment test was being organised, came to light. We have arrested 37 people, including candidates, examination centre owners, examination coordinators, IT managers and support staff of the online examination centres,” Dhillon added.

The EOU officials also recovered the original education certificates of CHO exam candidates, various types of electronic and digital devices, debit and credit cards from the examination centres and the residences of the accused.
