BJP president Amit Shah on Friday posted a blog slamming the Congress over national security, joining the Arun Jaitley-led drive aimed at setting the agenda for the general election.
Shah, who had written a couple of articles in the past, posted on Twitter a blog for the first time in the election season. A little later, finance minister Jaitley fired the fifth part of his ongoing “Agenda 2019” series of blogs that he posts on Facebook.
Shah’s blog is titled “Before making insensitive statements on terrorism, Rahul Gandhi should look at the Congress’s history”.
Jaitley’s blog in English is titled “Prime Minister Modi and Aspirational India Will Prevent India From Becoming a Dynastic Democracy”. The target of both leaders was Rahul and the Congress.
Shah criticised Rahul for attacking the BJP over the release of terrorist Masood Azhar by the then NDA government in 1999. The BJP chief accused Rahul of being “insensitive” and strengthening the patrons of terror.
Shah said that by criticising the release of Azhar, Rahul was questioning the wisdom of his own party leaders such as Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh, who Shah said had endorsed the decision at an all-party meeting.
Shah flagged the release of 25 terrorists from jails in 2010 by the UPA government in the name of improving ties with Pakistan, suggesting that Rahul look at the Congress’s history before pointing fingers at the BJP.
Shah once again targeted Jawaharlal Nehru, who was called the “original sinner” by Jaitley on Thursday, and repeated the allegation that India’s first Prime Minister had facilitated China’s entry to the UN Security Council.
Shah questioned why Sonia had “cried” after terrorists were killed in the Batla House encounter in Delhi.
Jaitley hit out at the Congress over dynasty politics. “How does the world’s largest democracy elect its Governments? Should it be on the basis of leadership quality, policy, ideology, performance or should it be on the basis of dynasties and family charismas?” he asked.
Jaitley went on to analyse the performance of dynasts in politics. He said Modi, who hailed from a humble background, had demolished the dynasts.
