Mayawati on Thursday said that the weaker sections of India had been watching the politics of the Congress and the BJP for their votes but they could no longer be misled.

“The ongoing politics between the government and the Opposition in the Lok Sabha in the last two days for the votes of the Dalits and other deprived classes; their ‘my Ambedkar vs my Ambedkar’ and their push and shove outside the House doesn’t look good,” the Bahujan Samaj Party president said at a news conference in Lucknow on Thursday.

“The Congress has not changed since the Constitution of India was implemented in the country. It forced Ambedkar to resign as law minister and conspired against him. It still wants to deprive the weaker sections from getting the benefits extended under the Constitution,” Mayawati said.

“And I don’t see the BJP lagging behind the Congress on this account. They also keep playing politics to woo the voters of this community (the Scheduled Castes).”

“Be it the BJP or the Congress, they don’t really respect Ambedkar. The followers of Babasaheb should be alert against them,” she appealed to the Dalits.
