All Puri temple doors to be opened: Newly appointed Odisha chief minister Mohan Charan Majhiq

Majhi also announced that a corpus fund of ₹500 crore would be set up for the temple’s maintenance and conservation

Newly appointed Odisha chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday announced that all four doors of the 12th century Puri Jagannath Temple will be opened to the public from Thursday morning.

After presiding over his first cabinet meeting, Majhi said: “Tomorrow (Thursday) morning, all the members of the council of ministers will visit the temple during Mangala Aarati. During that time, all the four doors will be opened.”

At present, only one door is open for the common people.

Majhi also announced that a corpus fund of 500 crore would be set up for the temple’s maintenance and conservation.

The chief minister said: “The MSP of 3,100 will be given to the farmers towards the purchase of one quintal of paddy. Direction has been issued to prepare guidelines to execute it.”

He also announced that 50,000 would be credited to the account of women under Subhadra Yojana. This will be implemented in 100 days and guidelines will be prepared for it.

Under the Subhadra Yojana, every woman will receive a cash voucher of 50,000 which can be encashed over two years.

Earlier in the day, 15 ministers along with Majhi took the oath of office in the presence of governor Raghubar Das.

There are two deputy chief ministers, eight cabinet ministers and five ministers of state in Majhi’s ministry.

Besides the two deputy chief ministers, K.V. Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, the eight cabinet ministers include former state BJP president Suresh Pujari, Kuchinda MLA Rabi Narayan Naik, Umerkote MLA Nityananda Gond, Morada MLA Krushna Chandra Mohapatra, Chilika MLA Prithiviraj Harichandan, Loisingha MLA Mukesh Mahaling, Gopalpur MLA Bibhuti Bhusana Jena and Dhenkanal MLA Krushna Chandra Patra.
