The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhubaneswar on Monday opened a “Travel Health Clinic” that provides a one-stop solution to travellers both within the country and abroad.
This is the first of its kind in Odisha and one among the very few in the country, set up by the department of community and family medicine of AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
Inaugurating the clinic, the executive director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AIIMS, Dr Prof. (Dr.) Ashutosh Biswas urged every traveller to seek travel-related health advice before the journey to avoid contracting and transmitting illnesses beyond national frontiers.
He said: “People from all over Odisha and other parts of India who come for travel-related consultation and vaccination services will uninterruptedly avail of the service from travel clinic OPD (Out Patient Department).”
Prof Biswas said: “The special clinic will run twice in a week and will provide imminent travellers with essential vaccination services including some country-specific vaccines like the yellow fever vaccine, advice regarding healthy behaviour during travel, assembling a customized medical kit for use in emergencies and the other ‘Dos and Don’ts’ during the period.”
