In a concerted effort to promote industry and business in Punjab, Delhi's Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, and Punjab's newly elected Chief Minister, Sardar Bhagwant Mann, engaged in a series of dialogues with industrialists during the 'Sarkar Sanatkar Milni' programs in Amritsar and Jalandhar.
Under the leadership of CM Sardar Bhagwant Mann, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has set its sights on revitalizing Punjab's industrial landscape. During these interactions, CM Bhagwant Mann unveiled a series of initiatives aimed at bolstering industry in the state, while CM Kejriwal assured industrialists of an improved business environment.
One of the key announcements was the commitment to enhance the investment climate in Punjab. CM Kejriwal stated that the AAP government in Punjab is determined to prevent industries from leaving the state and encourage more investments, potentially reaching Rs. 1.5 - 2 lakh crore if the industrialists are content with the environment provided.
CM Kejriwal also highlighted the need to address issues that have led to the decline of certain industries in Punjab, particularly the steel and foundry sector. He emphasized that revitalizing these sectors is crucial for the state's economic growth. "We are going on the path of progress or going in the opposite direction. We need to change this," he said.
Furthermore, the leaders discussed how to improve infrastructure and rectify flawed policies to attract investments. They stressed the importance of safeguarding local industries before seeking foreign investment, noting that the trust of local industrialists is vital for Punjab's economic resurgence.
CM Bhagwant Mann added that the Punjab government has formulated an industry policy and encouraged entrepreneurs to utilize it. He assured that if any issues arise, the policy would be amended to better serve the interests of businesses.
Another significant announcement was the establishment of the Punjab Road Safety Force, making Punjab the first state in India to do so. This initiative aims to enhance road safety and reduce accidents, with police patrolling every 30 kilometers and equipped vehicles to transport injured individuals promptly.
CM Kejriwal commended CM Bhagwant Mann's proactive approach, emphasizing that real investments have already started pouring into the state, exceeding Rs. 50,000 crore within just one and a half years. These investments are expected to create 2.86 lakh new job opportunities, further boosting Punjab's economy.
The AAP leaders also addressed the importance of trust and partnership between the government and industrialists. They stressed the need to create a conducive environment for businesses to thrive, ensuring mutual growth.
Further, CM Kejriwal expressed his admiration for CM Bhagwant Mann's leadership, citing his dedication to solving problems, transparency, and commitment to good governance. He described him as "one of the best administrators in the country" and praised the progress made in Punjab under his leadership.
The 'Sarkar Sanatkar Milni' programs in Amritsar and Jalandhar serve as a testament to the AAP government's resolve to foster a thriving industrial landscape in Punjab while ensuring the welfare of its citizens.
