The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)'s dramatic allegation that the BJP had kidnapped one of its Gujarat election candidates took a strange turn this evening as the "missing" leader lashed out at his own party in a video.
AAP leader Jariwala, as per an NDTV report, made the revelation in a video in which he has accused his party of being anti-national.
Junking party's allegations of kidnapping and pressure against BJP, AAP's Surat candidate Kanchan Jariwala said he withdrew his nomination voluntarily and not due to any pressure.
Jariwala's statement emerged hours after AAP's state unit claimed that the Surat seat candidate was kidnapped and forced to withdraw from the upcoming state assembly elections.
He also said there was no pressure on him to withdraw the nomination and that he listened to his inner voice that guided him to not support an anti-Gujarat party like AAP.
AAP leader Manish Sisodia had also accused the BJP of stooping to pressure tactics fearing loss.
The BJP is in power in Gujarat for 27 years, faces an aggressive campaign by AAP, which has turned the traditional BJP versus Congress rivalry in the state into a triangular contest.
Gujarat votes on December 1 and 5 for a new government. The results will be declared on December 8.
