Four Bangladesh nationals were arrested from Bihar’svKishanganj railway station on the charges of illegally entering India.
They were allegedly planning to go to Punjab. All four persons were waiting on platform number two to board an Amritsar-bound train on Thursday evening when the Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel found their behaviour suspicious.
“When questioned by our team, they claimed to be natives of Bengal. However, they could not produce any document or evidence of it. They were not carrying any luggage either. They later accepted that they were from Bangladesh,” RPF inspector B.M. Dhar told reporters.
The arrested persons have been identified as Robin Chandra Burman, Amal Chand Burman, Muhammad Ajizul and Suman Das. They all are in the age group of 23-35, and are residents of Thakurpur in Bangladesh.
“They confessed that they entered our country from Bangladesh on Tuesday night by crossing the border along North Dinajpur district in Bengal when no Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were there. They came unhindered to Kishanganj,” Dhar added.
Four mobile phones, including three without SIM cards, and Rs 10,000 in Indian currency were also recovered from them. The arrested persons were handed to the government railway police at Kishanganj for further action.
They were produced before a court and forwarded to jail. The RPF has also informed its senior officials about the incident.
