The Bihar police and the CRPF recovered a huge cache of weapons, including around 3600 rounds of ammunition, allegedly belonging to the Maoists from Aurangabad district in a joint operation conducted on Monday.

The seizures were made on the basis of intelligence inputs from different places in the hilly and forested areas of Madanpur in the district.

They include 3583 bullets of various calibres, four improvised explosive devices (IEDs), an under-barrel grenade launcher, two wireless sets and an interceptor, six detonators, two dozen pressure triggers used in IEDs, and fuse wire.

Several mobile phones, Maoist literature and many other articles were also a part of the recovered cache.

“The troops consisting of multiple teams conducted a search in the targeted area and discovered a cache of arms and ammunition hidden at multiple locations,” a CRPF statement said.

“All the explosives and IEDs were destroyed at the places where they were recovered while observing the necessary safety protocols,” it added.

Parts of Aurangabad, a district bordering Jharkhand, are affected by the Left Wing Extremism and the security forces have been conducting search operations over the past few months.

They have succeeded in recovering a large number of weapons, ammunition and explosives.
