At least 33 people across 16 districts lost their lives in a thunderstorm that lashed Bihar on Thursday evening. Bhagalpur and Muzaffarpur districts bore the maximum brunt with seven and six deaths, respectively.

Chief minister Nitish Kumar expressed grief and announced Rs 4 lakh grant on Friday to the next of kin of the deceased. He also directed the officials to assess the damage to houses and crops.
