Two CRPF jawans and a policeman were killed in a militant attack in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, police said.
A joint team of the CRPF and J&K Police were on duty at a check post at Kreeri, said the officials, when some terrorists fired at them. The terrorists managed to escape after the attack.
"We have lost three jawans in the attack. Reinforcement has been rushed to the spot. We are confirming the details," said Vijay Kumar, Inspector General of Police.
"Terrorists fired upon joint naka party of Police and CRPF near Kreeri area of Baramulla. Two CRPF and one JKP personnel sustained critical gunshot injuries who later on succumbed at hospital and attained martyrdom. Area cordoned off, search ops on. @JmuKmrPolice," a tweet by the Kashmir Zone Police read.
Security forces have cordoned off the area and a hunt has been launched to nab the militants.
